These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Lost On Purpose (the "Service"), operated as an independent project. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Lost On Purpose generates personalized, narrative-style real-world walking activities ("Operations") for one or more participants in a chosen city. Operations involve in-character messages from a fictional persona ("Bureau Operative"), riddles, photo challenges, and physical movement between real public locations.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to use the Service, including any paid features. If your country of residence sets a higher age of digital consent, that higher age applies to you.
Lost On Purpose involves physical movement through real outdoor environments. You are solely responsible for your own safety and the safety of anyone you bring with you while completing an Operation. This includes:
Lost On Purpose does not own, inspect, or control any real-world location suggested during an Operation, and does not guarantee that any location is safe, accessible, or accurately described. We are not liable for any injury, loss, theft, or damage arising from your use of the Service in the physical world. If you experience a genuine emergency, contact local emergency services directly — not through the app.
Operations, the "Bureau Operative" dialogue, riddles, and related narrative content are generated using artificial intelligence (AI) language models. While presented in an immersive fictional style, no human operative is reading or writing these messages in real time. AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, outdated, or factually imperfect — particularly regarding real-world locations, hours of operation, or accessibility. Always verify safety-critical or time-sensitive information independently.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us promptly at the contact address below if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
Lost On Purpose offers a free tier ("Civilian") and a paid subscription tier ("Bureau Elite") with expanded features. Paid subscriptions are billed and processed by LemonSqueezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions — Lost On Purpose does not directly receive or store your payment card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal provided at checkout; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds, where applicable, are handled according to LemonSqueezy's standard policies.
Some challenges require you to submit photographs as proof of completing an Operation. By submitting a photo, you grant Lost On Purpose a license to store and process it solely for the purpose of verifying your progress and providing the Service. You retain ownership of your photos. You agree not to submit photos that identify other people without their consent, or that are illegal, offensive, or infringe on someone else's rights.
You agree not to: harass, threaten, or endanger others while using the Service; attempt to bypass payment, security, or usage-limit systems; use automated tools to abuse the AI-generation features; or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
The Lost On Purpose name, branding, website, and underlying software are the property of the operator. The specific Operation content generated for your account is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use.
The Service relies on third-party providers to function, including Supabase (data storage), Groq (AI processing), LemonSqueezy (payments), and Vercel (hosting). Details of how these providers handle your data are described in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lost On Purpose's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the preceding 12 months, or €0 if you used only the free tier.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.
